Each year Broadcast magazine turns a spotlight on UK’s brightest young talent in their Hot Shots supplement. Blueberry nominated Editor Ash Jenkins for the 2008 edition.
Ash recently worked as Editor on the Nick Broomfield feature, 'Battle For Haditha', alongside Stuart Gazzard. Ash has also just completed editing on the feature documentary ‘Afghan Star’ for More 4. Ash is an inspiring young filmmaker and truly deserving of his inclusion as a Broadcast Hot Shot.
During his Film School studies in Wales, Ash spent time in Africa and made films for Amnesty International, ITN and Channel 4 News - documenting themes of war, poverty and struggle. Since 2004, he has worked for acclaimed British director Nick Broomfield on some very exciting projects 'His Big White Self' (a documentary feature on South African politics) and 'Ghosts' (a feature length drama highlighting the plight of migrant workers).
Ash is passionate about his work and very focused. From the moment we met him, we saw a mature Editor with passion, drive and an amazing aptitude for creative and thought-provoking storytelling. His strong understanding of structure, pace, music and humour is striking.
Ash’s enthusiasm for his work is infectious - and this combined with his technical application and creative skill is going to see him become a key player in the UK’s Post Production industry.
Blueberry congratulates Ash and his fellow 2008 Hot Shots!
An exciting announcement coming soon....keep checking here to find out what it is!
Congratulations to Blueberry Editor Darren J King and his wife on the arrival of the latest addition to their family - Tobias "Toby" Jacob Stuart King!
He was very happy in Mummy's tummy and didn't want to leave, but was eventually born on 22nd July at 11:10am weighing 9lb 15oz. All our best wishes xxx
The Blueberry team would like to congratulate Blueberry Editor Richard Bardsley on the publication of his first book - "Body Parts: The Anatomy of Love".
A collection of stories, each one dedicated to a part of the human body and all on the theme of love. From head to feet via freckles and fingers, every aspect of the body is explored through stories that are humorous, at times disturbing and never predictable.
A man of many talents, evidently Richard is going to enjoy as much success with writing as he has editing. His book has been longlisted for the Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award 2008. The shortlist is due to be announced in July - we wish Richard the best of luck!!
